Chinese Team Creates one of the Fastest Tower Timing in Pro Dota 2

May 11, 2021 | 0 | 10| |

The complexity and flexibility in a game of Dota 2 opens up numerous gameplay possibilities. Fans have seen 0 minute Roshan attempts, five-person ganks before the horn and extremely early tower pushes.

But nothing compares to Sparking Arrow Gaming’s timing in the Dota Pro Circuit match yet. Sparking Arrow Gaming (SAG) took down Team Aster’s tier 1 tower at 0:22, the fastest in a professional Dota 2 match to date.

The fastest tower push in Pro Dota 2

Sparking Arrow Gaming faced off against Team Aster in Week 4 of the Dota Pro Circuit: China Upper Division. It was a ‘David vs Goliath’ battle. Team Aster was undefeated before this match while Sparking Arrow Gaming had to yet win a single match.

It would require something out of the ordinary for Sparking Arrow Gaming to surprise Team Aster. And that is exactly what the team goes for in this match.

Following a recent popular Reddit thread, Sparking Arrow Gaming decided to push the enemy tier 1 tower as soon as possible. All five members of the team were in the top lane, trying to take down the enemy tower as soon as possible. Here’s Sparking Arrow Gaming’s hero lineup for this strategy:

  • Legion Commander.
  • Snapfire.
  • Abaddon.
  • Luna.
  • Nature’s Prophet.

Luna skilled Lunar Blessing that gave all nearby allies an attack damage bonus. With Nature’s Prophet’s Nature’s Call and Abaddon’s Curse of Avernus, the top tower did not stand a chance against SAG. Sparking Arrow Gaming took down the tower just 22 seconds in the game, possibly a new record in professional Dota 2.

While SAG took down the first tower in record time, it did not change the outcome of the match. Team Aster was clearly at a higher skill level and the game ended just 13 minutes after with a Team Aster victory.

A New Strategy? Not Quite

While Sparking Arrow Gaming used this ‘strategy’ for the first time in a professional match, it was not the first in Dota 2. A few weeks ago, an amateur team, Team Illegal, used the same strategy in the AD2l League. There were slightly different heroes and Team Illegal was on the dire side. But the strategy worked nevertheless.

Dota 2’s large number of heroes, items and their interactions with each other opens various possibilities in strategy and playstyle. Sparking Arrow Gaming is yet to win a game while Team Aster is still undefeated in the Dota Pro Circuit Season 2 China Upper Division.
