One team will qualify for the event via the open qualifier. All but one of the remaining teams have received direct invites to the tournament.

The ONE Esports Singapore Major is the first Dota 2 Major of 2021. The DPC Season 1 has six different regions with the top-placed team from each region moving to the Major playoffs. The runner-up will move to the group stage. Some regions have additional slots for teams to enter the Major via the Wild Card invites.

Team Secret Remains Undefeated Through the Group Stage

Team Secret won all of its group stage games to book a place in the Dota 2 Major playoffs.

Puppey’s Team Secret was the best Dota 2 team of last year. The team’s performance helped it earn the title of the best esports team and it even won the Esports Award.

Team Secret remained undefeated through the group stage to finish with a 7-0 score. Secret’s journey started with a 2-1 win over Tundra Esports. The team would then go on to defeat Vikin.gg 2-0 in a convincing manner. Vikin.gg did not have a chance to cause an upset in that match and the manner of Team Secret’s victory set alarm bells ringing.

The third week was especially important for Team Secret. With two games scheduled for the third week, one against Team Liquid and one against Nigma, Secret’s chances of topping the group stage depended on its performance this week. Secret demolished Nigma 2-0. Secret had a very dominating performance in these games. Liquid put up a valiant fight, but Secret’s late-game draft helped it to secure the late game. Despite a decent advantage for Team Liquid, the synergy of Secret’s players and their coordination with each other were unmatched in this series.

Secret takes down Alliance, OG and High Coast Esports

Team Secret faced off against Alliance in Week 5. Despite the big names in this tournament, Alliance has emerged as one of the best Dota 2 teams. In fact, the team placed second in the group stage over opponents like Team Liquid and OG. Alliance took Team Secret to three games, but it was not enough for the roster to take down Team Secret.

After walking over High Coast Esports, Team Secret would face OG for its final game of the Dota Pro Circuit Season 1. By this time, it was a foregone conclusion that Team Secret would top the group. But a victory for OG could have catapulted it ahead of the likes of Alliance, Team Liquid and Nigma. Unfortunately, Team Secret proved to be much superior in the draft and the execution in the second game. OG tried to bring out the Alchemist in the first two games, but Team Secret’s Enigma pick proved too much for the two-time TI winning team.

Team Secret might have won all games in the DPC 2021 Season 1. However, the team might have just showed its cards too early ahead of the ONE Esports Singapore Major 2021.
