TNL Take: No you're not seeing double.

Yes, Vodafone announced their renewal of their partnership with G2 eSports.

Vodafone looks to double down on their European investment by also sponsoring team Mousesports

Vodafone will be involved with all of Mousesports teams, which includes Counter-Strike, Street Fighter V, Dota 2 teams and Vainglory, the usual branded content and exclusively on Vodafone's "Featured" magazine.

Yes this deal focuses on Vodafone's high speed broadband access but the lines between a mobile, internet, and content are quickly being blurred.

TNL Take: Top European team G2 eSports was one of the earliest Western teams to get sponsored by a Telco having worked with Vodafone last year with their League of Legends team.

G2 eSports has now extended their partnership on a global scale, in addition to adding a Vodafone CS:GO roster to their squad.

Vodafone also launched a TV show on MTV that gave a peek into the lives of G2 Vodafone players.

What you have in your pocket or purse is the most powerful communication device ever invented to date.

It's shocking that more Telco brands's haven't invested in eSports considering it's literally their exact target audience and that Purchase Intent vs. Traditional Sports is higher. Come on in, the water is warm.

TNL Take: T-Mobile has been involved in Gaming for many years and I helped close their first social gaming sponsorship at Zynga.

Within eSports, T-Mobile sponsored team Evil Geniuses in 2014 and was part of ESL's event at Madison Square Garden in 2015.

In 2016, T-Mobile announced that their Binge On program would include content from YouTube Gaming, DailyMotion....and Azubu, which I called out as a risk at that time.

Azubu was sold in a firesale to Hitbox in May of this year.

Announced yesterday, T-Mobile's most recent partnership with Twitch at E3 looks a bit more promising.

T-Mobile will be the presenting sponsor for the Twitch eSports Arena at this year's E3 which will feature a fighting game genre tournament featuring Street Fighter V, TEKKEN 7, and Injustice 2..

In a smart move, each day of the 3 day activation will feature a different game.  T-Mobile is also allowing fans to vote for their MVP of each daily tournament as well via Twitter/Twitch hashtag #TMobileMVP.

Welcome back T-Mobile....now let's move more of that MLB budget over to eSports.

TNL Take: Hello Canada.

Northern Arena, run by The Canadian League of Gamers, has partnered with Bell as the Title Sponsor for 2016.

Outside of pure marketing, the program will consist of:

/01 Product Integration

Bell’s broadband services integrated within Northern Arena's platform.

/02 Content Distribution

eSports Event coverage on Bell Media’s TSN and RDS platforms.

/03 Events

Activations at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre along with Fan Expo and in Montréal in conjunction with the 8th Annual Canadian Video Game Awards.

Canada is turning into an eSports country with many startups based in Vancouver and Toronto.

Great to see Canadian Brands hop on board as well.
