Britain gets its own eSports Association

The British surely like to get their things done their own way. After their abrupt divorce with the European Union, they now have their own eSports association.

The nonprofit association announced its formation in June 30 and aims to represent British competitive gaming at all levels. Approved by the British government, it will work closely with the Department for Culture, Media, and Sport to create the next wave of British eSports champions. But to be honest, its creation is Britain’s ticket to a growing industry that will bring in more than $892 million in 2016.

G2 Esports reclaim EU LCS top spot

Fnatic stumbled. The team lost both its matches this week and gave away any real hopes of winning the regular season. G2 reclaimed the top spot after winning 2-0 against Fnatic who suffered a shock defeat against Giants.

Bayern Munich is not buying SK Gaming

At least according to Esports Interactivo. With a comment to the eSports Observer, Alexander Muller, SK’s managing director denied any rumors that the team was sold:

“We are SK Gaming, and we will stay SK Gaming”.

One thing is certain: With conventional clubs fixing their eyes on the eSports, more teams will follow FC Schalke 04 and Manchester United in acquiring their own eSports team.

France has a €12 million eSports market

According to the stats provided by a survey conducted by the ninjas over at Smartcast, in 2015 the eSports market share was a staggering €11.562.000, a 43% growth from the previous years.

When it comes to number of paid employees, 101 French players are employed or under contract in French clubs, and 21 French players under contract with foreign clubs.

EU LCS finals to be held in Krakow, Poland

Riot revealed last Tuesday that the 2016 EU LCS Summer Split Finals will be held in Poland at the TAURON Arena. Prepare for some top notch battles, since he top six teams of the regular season advance to the playoffs.

Luminosity Gaming joins SK Gaming

As of 1 July, Luminosity Gaming, their coach, and manager joined SK gaming. The Brazilian squad played under the Luminosity Gaming banner for the final time this past week. Lincoln Gau tweeted a picture last week with his new SK Gaming gear.
