Free Fire also confirmed its place in the Esports World Cup 2026: 24 teams competing July 15–18 in Riyadh for the third edition of the Free Fire event there.
Why this matters for viewers: the expansion to 24 teams is a direct answer to the scene's geography — more slots mean emerging regions (including newer Latin American and MENA markets) get real shots at the global stage instead of one-off qualifiers. The separate Clash Squad circuit gives the game's faster 4v4 mode its own competitive ladder, which had previously only appeared inside mixed-format events.
Coming off the record-setting 2025 season — Buriram United's world title in Jakarta and a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS award for the largest mobile team-based esports tournament — the 2026 calendar tests whether the audience that made 2025 the game's biggest year follows the expanded format into Bangkok. The EWC return also adds a second true international trophy race to the year.
