The Overwatch League and Call of Duty League can now feature betting and liquor sponsors. Activision Blizzard has reportedly made a change in its policy allowing teams to feature sponsors from these two industries.

The two Activision-owned esports Leagues find new revenue opportunities with liquor and betting sponsors on board, according to an Esportsobserver report.

Activision Blizzard allows betting and liquor based sponsors in Overwatch League and Call of Duty League

Activision Blizzard has traditionally been against the inclusion of betting and liquor sponsors in its esports leagues. As the publisher focused on making these leagues family-friendly, two of the biggest revenue sources became inaccessible for member teams.

But now Activision Blizzard seems to be open to the idea of betting and liquor sponsors in its esports. The report comes hours after London Royal Ravens announced Midnite as a team sponsor. Midnite is a sports and esports betting platform that features bets on several esports titles.

Betting sponsors are quite common in sports as well as other esports titles such as CS:GO. With new sponsorship opportunities in place, teams will now have an easier time with sponsorship money.
