The Faze Clan roster has always been an enigma in CS: GO. On paper, they are one of the best teams; easily capable of taking the Number 1 spot from Astralis. However, the reality is quite different and the International team is unsuccessful so far. Their recent change saw Karrigan stepping down from the team. He has since joined Team Envy in preparation for the upcoming Major. However, with Karrigan’s departure Faze Clan is still one man short on their roster. The roster lock deadline has already passed, however, we still don’t know who their fifth player is. As we await future announcements by the team, they have now announced that their coach will step down from the team.
With @karriganCSGO officially on loan, this marks the first time since October of 2016 without him in our starting lineup. Over the course of that period, Finn contributed to 7 different Championship Trophies won by our Counter Strike team.

33-year-old Robert “RobbaN” Dahlström has been with Faze Clan since 2016. The former NIP and SK Gaming professional player [ CS 1.6 ] has contributed immensely to Faze Clan’s development over the years. The current roster is a result of his efforts with Karrigan scouting for talent and helping move quickly. In fact after the CS: GO Major in 2017, Faze Clan was very quick to announce both Guardian and Olofmeister in what was considered a coup by many.
In February of 2016, as FaZe Clan first entered Counter Strike, we brought on @FaZeRobbaN as our Coach and he has been instrumental to this day in helping us build Champions.
Today, RobbaN announces he is stepping down as Head Coach. Below is a statement from him.#FaZeUp pic.twitter.com/YPG0QtwYVa

Robban has been instrumental in helping develop the Faze Clan team into its current state. Managing and coaching high-calibre players such as the names on Faze Clan is a very difficult task. It is important to balance the ego of such high-class players and maintain good team chemistry.
He spent nearly two years with Faze Clan. During this time, he has one of the biggest impacts on the team and the organisation’s success. However, as Faze Clan take on a new direction with their new roster, it is important for someone more equipped to take on the reins.
According to a report by William Land, Janko “YNk” Paunović might be moving towards a possible stint at Faze Clan. The former analyst and commentator will be a key addition to Faze Clan as they attempt to renew their strengths for 2019.
YNK already has had some experience as a coach. He was the coach for MiBr as his first stint on the team. He was not successful as the coach for Made in Brazil. The year ended with Stewie2K and Tarik leaving MiBr. They will take on a Brazilian route and with Wilton “zews” Pradob joining the team, they are back to one of their old rosters.
This will probably be one of the last chances for Janko “YNk” Paunović to prove himself as the coach. He has not had the most success as a coach and with a talented roster as Faze Clan we do hope he can make it work. When he was an analyst, he would always point out crucial minuscule mistakes on part of the teams in their gameplay. He was extremely critical of the MiBr gameplay and he definitely had a somewhat positive impact on their performance. But it was not enough as MiBr was never able to rise to the occasion of being a top-tier team once again.
The Faze Clan roster is still made up of just four players. They have obviously already signed their fifth player. With the major starting next month and the IBuyPower Masters IV starting on the 19th of January, we can expect news very soon. Faze Clan’s performance needs a very tactical approach. Currently, Niko is the player who is taking the reins of the team. While he has still put up strong numbers, his in-game leadership will still affect his individual performance in the future.
There are reports that Dauren “AdreN” Kystaubayev will be joining Faze Clan in the future, according to DeKay from VPesports. This would be a great addition to the team. Adren brings in a lot of tactical value to the team’s performance. He has loads of experience putting up big strategies for the CIS teams. With Guardian, he can help coordinate with the rest of the roster. However, we don’t know how adjusting to such a diverse international roster will affect him. Any CS: GO team requires great synergy and coordination between the two parties.
We will analyse this addition in greater detail in the future when Faze Clan decide to officially announce the roster change. For now, YNK’s addition to the team adds a new angle to the team’s performance. Faze Clan will play their next match at the IBuyPower Masters IV starting on the 19th of January.
