Russia recognizes eSports!

An announcement from the Russian government that will come into effect this Friday (June 17th) will prove that the country is very progressive when it comes to its electronic competitive scene. eSports will be official and put on the ‘official register of sports”.

With super-teams like Team Empire and Moscow Five, and billionaires like Alisher Usmanov investing more than 100 million dollars, Russia will surely see interest from more investors.

Most major French networks have either experimented or are going to include an eSports strategy in their future plans. What that means for the eSports scene remains to be seen, but it is certainly a brave step towards worldwide acceptance.

Copenhagen Wolves are no more

It’s always sad to see a veteran team leave the scene. Copenhagen Wolves have been for years the most prominent Denmark team, with rosters in LoL, CS:GO, and Dota 2. The founders stated their various responsibilities in other eSports organizations couldn’t allow them to spend any time to the Wolves.

Misfits have new owners

misfits

ESPN reports that the team formerly known as Renegades Banditos (banned by Riot Games) have been picked up by eSports Now.
If you are wondering, eSports Now is a new venture founded by Ben Spoont (digital media and mobile consultant) and its major investor is Mitchell Rubenstein, high executive of the Syfy channel. Expect a lot of money to drip in as Misfits have also signed ADC Steven “Hans” Liv (ex-Millenium) and support Lee “IgNar” Dong-geun (ex-KT Rolster).
