Esports tournament organizer WePlay! has announced a non-profit tournament to fill the void left in Dota 2 esports after Valve canceled the fourth Dota 2 Minor and Major events.

Valve Cancels the Fourth Dota 2 Major and Minor

The OGA Dota Pit Minor and the EPICENTER Major will no longer take place as Valve has canceled these events following the covid19 coronavirus outbreak.

The covid19 coronavirus outbreak has affected esports tournaments globally with tournaments such as the ESL Pro League, IEM Katowice 2020 and ESL One Los Angeles either canceled or moved online.

The outcome of the cancelation of the Dota 2 Major and Minor is still unknown. With fewer events for the DPC 2019-20 Season, teams that have already won tournaments will have a better chance of qualifying for The International. However, at this stage, with the uncertainty surrounding the containment procedures for the covid 19 coronavirus, The International 2020 seems to be in doubt.

WeSave Charity Play Tournament

WeSave Charity Play tournament is a twenty-four team Dota 2 tournament to combat the covid19 outbreak, the esports way. The tournament will feature a prize pool of $120,000 and there will be four teams from each of the six Dota 2 regions.

The entire pot, including donations from sponsors and viewers, will go towards fighting the coronavirus outbreak.  The WeSave tournament will take place from March 20-26, 2020.
